Finding Out the Truths and Troubles of Hair and Hair Care Products

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Before hovering over hair, let’s track down what hair is all about. According to dictionary.com hair is ‘any of the numerous fine, usually cylindrical, keratinous filaments growing from the skin of humans and animals’ and wikipedia, the knowledge portal says, ‘Hair is an outgrowth of protein, found only on mammals’.

Well, that is enough about the facts, quite a scientific explanation! Their primary interest knows how to make their hair beautiful, how to impart a classy or sexy look to their image and how they can prevent hair loss, dandruff etc.

This article takes a look at three common myths and truths of hair to overcome misconceptions and are prompted to think about improving the quality of your hair. To help you achieve this, we’ve included a few hair care products that are made to improve the look and feel of your hair. Read on.

Prior to sorting out hair care products in order of preference, let’s unearth the myths first.

• Myth: – Excessive washing of hair results in hair loss…

Truth: – Not so. Wash your hair when you think it’s important. Washing hair on a regular basis does not cause damage to your hair, it helps in removing bacteria, oil and dirt. .

• Myth:-Applying more shampoo results in better hair, cleaner hair…

Truth: – No shampoo should make false or over the top promises about how it will improve your hair quality. Apply when needed, avoid using in large quantity – usually the amount equal to the size of a 20 cent piece will do. For a man, a single pack can last for months, whereas women with long hair go through more.

• Myth: – If the diet is wrong, hair loss is obvious…

Truth: – Well, it’s true. Research reports that exposure to inconsistent diet can harm your hair. To get good hair, eat healthy, nutritious food rather than just applying hair care products in volumes.

The above has debunked the three most commonly held myths relating to hair. Now it’s time to find out the facts on hair care products that you should know.

There is a huge volume of hair care products flooding the market but improper selection and ignorance in identifying the right kind of hair care product could potentially lead to hair loss. Every day, new products are being launched with a catchy brand name and a marketing strategy, but very few actually survive at end of the day. The main reason is poor quality or poor performing products that have an adverse effect on user’s hair and skin. Often this is due to the harsh chemicals and detergents used in the products. If an advertisement is good, their product may get a boost but later tumbles down when it does more harm than good.

So, what constitute a good hair product? To track down the answer, we have to go back to the Nature. The world of Nature is abundant with possibilities for making a good hair product. Consider plants and herbs, olive oil and honey, coconut milk and even eggs; they are all natural and can contribute to making quality hair care products. From cream to oil, shampoos to conditioners; hair care products incorporating natural ingredients tend to be safer to use and kinder on the hair and scalp. The Beauty Mate range of men’s grooming products is just one example of a new product that doesn’t make false claims or promises. With its straight forward, no fuss approach to male grooming it uses natural plant derived foaming agents in the place of harsh detergents and chemicals.

Beauty Mate is a quality range of Australian made face and Male hair care products that do the job, without the fuss. It has all other natural skincare products , grooming products, skincare products, etc.

Best Hair Care Products For Hair Growth And Thickness

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Regardless of whether you have short or long hair, keeping up with it can be a tough task. Great hair requires proper maintenance of hair ends, proper moisture levels, deep conditioning, shampooing, and conditioning. That is why it is important to use only quality hair products, not necessarily expensive hair products. For years, several of my clients who once had long tresses of hair would come into my salons and ask my stylist how can I restore my hair to it former glory? How can I get rid of my split ends? Or How can I grow longer and thicker hair? The answer would always be the same, treat your hair with respect. It is so easy to pull your hair back and tie it into a knot or to bleach it with chemicals that are so harsh they ruin the very foundation that you are seeking to build upon. Respecting your hair is your prime responsibility if you want to have longer and prettier hair that has shine and bounce like the models on television.

Below are the three best ways to show respect for your hair. These tips have not only worked for my stylist and the high profile celebrities who they must keep looking fabulous, but also for anyone who desires a better head of hair.

Hair Respect Rule #1: Develop a hair care regime. Routine. Routine. Routine. Developing a routine is absolutely essential to restoring your hair to its former glory or to keep your hair looking great. Developing a hair care regime is simple. It just means coming up with a serious of things that your do to your hair on a regular basis. For instance, on Monday’s I wash my hair, on Tuesday’s I check my hair ends for splits, on Wednesday’s I deep condition my hair. If you have busy schedule this will help you out so much. Several of my clients have told me that within in weeks of developing a routine that they notice balding spots, kinks, and tough hair areas get better because of the extra care that their hair was able to receive. If you respect your body then you develop a schedule and make sure that you have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is the same way with your hair. How often have you missed a meal, because you did not schedule out your day. Probably many times. If you do not plan for something to happen then it probably will not.

Hair Respect Rule #2: Respect your scalp. I know that when you look at the hair of models, all that you see is long and flowing hair. However, if the model’s hair is real, then underneath all those wonderful shiny follicles will be a clean and healthy scalp. It’s simple, I would always tell my clients and stylist who I trained to think of hair as a flower that cannot bud or flourish if the roots are in disarray or if the scalp is in poor condition. If you show respect your car you keep it clean, if you respect your house then you keep it clean, if you respect you hair then you will keep it clean from dirt and debris that can cause fungus and bacteria to grow from product buildup. If you respect your hair then you will wash your hair and scalp to remove debris. It is necessary for you to wash your hair at least once per week if you want your hair to flourish. Everyone’s hair grows at different rates based on a series of factors, however you can be assured that your hair growth will be stunted if your scalp is scarred and clogged.

Hair Respect Rule#3: Respect you hair by avoiding harsh chemical products. In today’s marketplace most hair care products, especially shampoos and conditioners are loaded with chemicals like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, TEA Lauryl Sulfate or chemical treatments like coloring, highlights, & relaxers. These ingredients and treatments help to create instant results, while creating long term damage to your hair and scalp health. That is why whenever possible use organic products. Although, most of my experience was gained while working with clients throughout the United Kingdom, I have used several products from all countries between Paris and Argentina and I recommend using Beauty 4 Ashes GodHead hair care products (www.discoverb4a.com) or Beauty 4 Ashes La Java hair care products because they work. I discovered these products while at a convention in London about two years ago and have been using them on my clients ever since. While there are several natural and organic products on the market, few products work as well as Beauty 4 Ashes because they do not just seek to make your hair look better, but they work to better your scalp health with natural anti-inflammatory ingredients and herbs to help nourish the scalp resulting in longer and faster growing hair. The best part is that you can order these products from anywhere in the world including from the UK or United Kingdom (www.mybeauty4ashes.com), Australia, France to Canada (www.myb4a.com).This brings me to another question that I am always asked. Do the hair care products that you use make a difference. My answer is yes. It is the same as asking the question does the food you eat make a difference. My answer is yes. What you place in your body matters, just as what you place on your hair matters. If you respect your hair then you will use quality products. If you are not into using natural products and must use the chemicals then I recommend using Paul Mitchell, Redken, or Oscar Blandi.

I love nature and personally help every client achieve their goals. I am a professional that helps those I help look sexy, chic,& beautiful.

Prevent Baldness by Applying the Hair-care Products

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

The worst in the hair care issue and one of the most common problems faced by people these days is baldness. In many countries, which have periodical extreme weather conditions, the issue of baldness is more pronounced. In some countries, baldness has assumed the proportion of epidemics. According to scientific studies conducted on various groups, baldness can be a problem because of multiple reasons. It could be poor hair care, extreme use of hair care products and cosmetics laced with chemicals and harmful ingredients, fungal infections and lack of nourishment.

Extreme weather conditions also promote baldness in the Tundra region. People wearing helmets for longer period in hot climate conditions are also known to lose their hair over a period of time. However, this cannot be tackled with just one or two products. In the retail market, there are plenty of brands, which promise to heal hair falling problem and baldness. But since the products are not standardized, there is the possibility of the ingredients not working on every individual. Most of the branded products available in the retail market contain chemical compositions that may not help all individuals at all time.

The physical composition of the human body varies from person to person. Therefore, it is imperative that the product be personalized to each person. Since personalization of the products for each person is a difficult task, common components that may help curb balding are formulated. But these products, which contain chemicals, are often known to produce side effects. For instance, hair conditioners are known to cause baldness apart from generating dandruff and flakes. One problem will lead to another problem.

It is suggested that before applying the product to the hair, it is tested by an individual. Some products even cause hair splitting and hair loss. Eventually, it may lead to baldness of the individual. Check with your personal physician before trying any new hair care product. Look for the ingredients of the product to ascertain whether you are allergic to them. Often, it has been found that products produce side effects. Some conditioners and shampoos are known to produce itching effect on the head. Others simply contribute to hair fall.

Evaluating a good brand before putting it to use should become a standard norm. Similarly, check with friends and colleagues on the brand and its reliability. Also, ascertain whether claims made by the brand turned to be true. At the same time, there is nothing wrong in trying a brand that has been recently introduced in the market, for a brief time. It is always better if people opt for products that contain natural ingredients and herbal compositions for good hair growth.

New products are being introduced in the market to tackle baldness. Hair care is a multi billion dollars industry with new products being introduced in the market very frequently. Choosing the right hair care product could be a tricky situation since the compositions do not match everybody’s requirements. For more info, please visit http://www.promotehairgrowth.net

Fight Dandruff With Effective Hair Care Products

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Dandruff is a universal problem affecting all categories of communities across the world. There is no proper explanation as to why dandruff is generated by the hair. There are plenty of factors that are attributed towards the formation of dandruff and flakes in the hair. They include fungal growth on the head, poor hair care, long term exposure to extreme weather conditions and the role of pollutants. It has been often noticed that people who wear helmets report loss of hair or formation of dandruff and flakes. This is primarily because the hair and particularly the follicle is under stress and the heat generated in the process causes hair loss and baldness.

All over the world, plenty of medication has been prescribed to overcome the problem of dandruff and the flakes formation. However, no single medication will help the dandruff to clear. A combination of medication will help certainly help reduce the generation of dandruff and flakes. One of the natural medications that can help reduce the dandruff is applying organic oils. For instance, castor oil, coconut oil and oils extracted from flowers are found to be effective in fighting dandruff and flakes. These oils contain natural ingredients and have components prepared by nature that helps contain the dandruff problem. However, these products are yet to be standardized for components and ingredients. The testing is still on for various levels. However, most of the users of the natural oils are reporting reduction in the formation of dandruff and flakes.

The flakes and dandruffs in the hair can be prevented by applying oil three or four times in a week to the hair. The oils have to be applied gently and lightly without affecting the texture of the hair. The oils should be allowed to settle on the skull for at least three hours. It is better to apply oil to the non-office hours as some of the oils are slightly sticky. Once the oil is allowed to settle down for multiple hours, it should be washed using hair care products. The oils cannot be removed from the hair easily. Therefore, rinse the carefully in warm water for a small period of time.

Oily hair has the tendency to settle down in a particular format. A number of natural ingredients are also used to promote natural growth of hair and nurture the hair over a long period of time. They include plant extracts that are rich in vitamins that help promote hair growth. But these natural ingredients are costly when compared to the other products of MNC brands. The products are carefully prepared and stored to provide the maximum relief as a consequence of which they are costly when compared to shampoos and hair care products containing chemical compositions.

Fighting dandruff requires a lot of care. The hair care industry is today worth billions of dollars. There are varieties of products being promoted in the market to fight dandruffs and flakes by international advertising companies. It is recommended that the natural medicines and ingredients are used to fight problems like dandruff and flakes to overcome the issue once and for all. Hair Care Treatment – Products You Can Use to Protect Your Hair From These Heating Devices

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Many women love to style their hair. If you check out in your neighborhood, most of these women probably have experience in styling their hair on their own. When they leave their houses, they look pretty and attractive. Their hairstyles can also compliment very well what they wear. What is amazing in here is that it was made possible even without going to the parlor. In addition, the busiest woman in town can still have some time to fix their own hair because whatever these girls are using can straighten or curl hair in just a few seconds.

Thanks to various styling devices, women have all the power to achieve great hairstyles like that of what they see in the magazines. Styling hair has been made possible with the application of heat at a regulated level. Thus, it can stay there for hours just as long as the hair does not get wet. Some of the famous tools that you can encounter in the market are flat irons. They are portable so you can bring them anywhere you want.

The only downside of these products is that hair can be damaged with excessive heat application. This is even potentiated by the harmful rays of the sun. At this point in time, the use of devices may not seem very attractive to you. However, thanks to hair care treatment you can always regain the beauty of your hair.

There are certain heat protectant sprays that you can apply while using these devices. They function by providing barriers to prevent further penetration of the extreme heat to the core of the hair that can lead to permanent damage. They also act as moisturizers since it is expected that water in your hair will evaporate with this process. They can also prevent frizzy hair.

Most of these sprays contain chemicals. They are added to water and can be sprayed on the hair before heat is applied. However, you can actually avoid the use of chemicals and resort to a more natural way of protecting your hair. This is through the use of Argan Oil and Hemp Seed Oil.

Argan oil is derived from a plant that can only be found in Morocco. It is very rare that is why it can become limited in the market. However, they possess compositions of Vitamin E and other essential fatty acids. They have great moisturizing capabilities and anti-oxidizing properties that make it perfect for rejuvenating hair dryness.

Hemp Seed Oil comes from a plant called hemp. Just like Argan, it is also known for its moisturizing abilities. It is also rich in nutrients. If it is one of the sources of nutrients for the body, it can also be the best tool in fighting heat damaged that can be caused by your flat iron. It actually makes your hair stronger. It contains essential fatty acids that cannot be produced by your body. They are good for the skin and hair because it promotes regeneration of cells. This is also one natural remedy used for hair care treatment.

Hair Care Products – Qualities of Items That You Should be Looking for Prior to Making a Purchase

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Your hair is your crown. Whether you tie it up or let it loose, it can be very noticeable. It helps give shape to your face and it can compliment your outfit for the day. It is one of the main factors for beauty. No wonder why many people exert much effort in caring for it, as well as investing money to buy products related for its care.

Hair care should be done not only for the reason of looking good at all times. No matter what it is (long or short strands and fine or coarse), you need to take care of it because they have important physiologic functions to perform for our body. Here are some of the functions of your hair:

• It prevents and regulates heat loss on the body. • It is an additional protection of your skin that filters dust and preventing them from entering your pores. • It also provides additional warmth to your head and body. Imagine your head totally shaved, it can get very cold especially when room temperature is very low. • It is also an extension of your senses. It may not have sensory fibers on it but anything that causes it to move radiates it to your hair follicle, making you sense any kind of movement towards your body.

Since they also have important roles, you should think of ways to care for it. One is to use hair care products that you can use while maintaining them everyday. If you want to look for some of it, here are some of the qualities that you should be looking for:

• These substances should be able to moisturize them. You daily activities can cause deprivation of moisture on your hair. They are very much needed for people with dry or long hair that could possibly result to deprivation of moisture until to the tips.

• You can also opt for those natural remedies by looking for items with oil extracts from plants. Aside from the fact that they are naturally moisturizing agents, they can also possess anti-bacterial or anti-fungal properties. Having them around prevents infection of your scalp or even irritations that can cause discomfort.

• Look for products that can help you protect them from being destroyed by the Ultra Violet rays as they can cause dryness. They should also possess the ability to make your hair look healthy and shinier so that you can be proud to let it loose no matter what the weather condition will be.

• Find hair care products that can help you maintain the natural form of your hair. It should preserve its natural style and should not cause to make it look dull at all. You also have to ensure that it can remove the static on your hair to prevent having that frizzy look.

All of these properties should be the benefits that you should be getting every time you buy shampoos, conditioners, styling serums or hair creams. Therefore, help yourself and be wise in choosing these products.

Why you Should Avoid Hair Care Products With Silicones and Sulfates

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Several companies that produce hair care products chock of full of sulfates, detergents, parabens and silicones are continual butting heads with all natural hair care products that lack these ingredients. To make matters worse, heavily funded marketing departments for many beauty conglomerates, publish “articles” or “journals” which refute the chemical side effects of their product ingredients. Yet, the truth of the matter seems evident. Just as with food, the less refined, chemically created your product, the better it will be for your hair.

So why the outcry from companies that use these ingredients? The battle is over the word “better.” If you want a hair care product that makes your hair feel “better,” meaning softer or shinier instantaneously, but has some minor to major side effects, buy products from anyone. Yet, if you want long-lasting healthy hair that has to be built over time and produce some instant rewards, go all natural.

If you still are undecided, here is a synopsis of pros and cons of the heavyweight contenders in the hair care ingredient battles.

Silicones:

Why are silicones bad for your hair? Silicones are chemical substances that actually coat the hair, forming a shiny layer which makes the hair appear healthier and shinier. They are often found in shine sprays and hair rinses and dyes. Some silicones are water soluble, and others are not. For those that are not, they have the potential to create excessive build up on the hair, resulting in dry hair unable to receive moisture due to the presence of the layer of film. Yet, because your hair appears shinier and softer, most users of silicones are pleased with their hair until they learn it is actually damaged from all the dryness. This especially occurs with the use of hair dyes. Thus, silicones are an illusion and actually do more harm than good, depending on whether you prefer instant, false gratification or healthy hair. Keep in mind, however, that some people do love silicones and experience success with them by using them.

Sulfates:

Sodium laureth sulfate, or sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES), is a detergent and surfactant found in many personal care products (soaps, shampoos, toothpaste etc.). It is an inexpensive and very effective foamer. These substances provide a foaming quality to the product, allowing for better distribution of the product while washing hair or skin and while brushing teeth. While SLS is a known irritant, some evidence and research suggest that SLES can also cause irritation after extended exposure. Products containing these substances can affect those prone to eczema and other irritants. When rinsed off, the product will have cleaned the area but will have taken moisture from the top layers of skin. In people with sensitive skin (prone to dermatitis, acne, eczema, psoriasis and chemical sensitivity), the drying property of these type of detergents can cause flare-ups of skin conditions or may worsen existing conditions. The Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association (CTFA) and the American Cancer Society stated that the common belief that SLES is a carcinogen is an urban legend. However, the Environmental Working Group has claimed in their Skin Deep Report that SLES may possibly be contaminated with 1,4-dioxane.SLES and SLS have been known to become contaminated with 1,4-dioxane.The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency considers 1,4-dioxane to be a probable carcinogen. While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration encourages manufacturers to remove this contaminant, it is not currently required by federal law.

Many companies have “eliminated” sodium laurel sulfate in their products by claiming to use milder sulfate detergents, but that is questionable, since must sulfates are even harsher than SLS. Plus, the inexpensiveness of SLS shampoos and conditioners just make them attractive to beauty monopolies. Did you really expect to get quality ingredients for that $3.00 shampoo? Yes, you make have hair that looks or feels quality, but remember looks can be deceiving.

The Final Word

As more companies respond to the natural and organic personal care movement, the battle between natural ingredients and chemical ingredients will continue to rage on. Your best bet is to find a product that, even if all natural, contains quality ingredients, not simply extracts and ingredients that sound good. By far, some of the highest quality hair care products that I discovered are Beauty 4 Ashes GodHead products, especially their Silky Smooth System. Priced similar to Philosophy and Nexxus, their products actually contain hair healthy natural oils and essential oils and have no sulfates or silicones. Yet, they also produce quality, visible results. You can learn more about their product ingredients at wwwdiscoverb4acom.

Choose Hair Care Products After Testing for Quality

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Today, one of the most highly evolved industries since years is the hair care industry as the focus is clearly on maintaining the hair. Maintenance of lengthy hair poses many problems since shampoos and conditioners have to be applied periodically. If there is lack of maintenance of hair, it will result in multiple problems for the person. Eventually, lack of hair care will result in loss of hair or baldness that may not be good for the individual. Therefore choose the hair care products after testing them for quality and reliability.

People having long hair will always find the going tough daily since maintenance is a problem. Ladies, especially, have to face a lot of problems when it comes to maintenance of hair. Therefore, a number of prescriptions are being made by doctors and beauticians engaged in the industry. However, there are plenty of limitations when it comes to maintenance of hair. For, there are various types of hair, such as oil hair, dry hair and dense hair. Not all products meet the requirements of each hair type. Since it is difficult to standardize the hair product, the onus is clearly on the individual to decide what products go well with the hair. However, choosing this particular product can be a big problem for the users.

This includes not only forming the right combination for the hair type, but also using it appropriately. Each person should be aware of the limitations of natural hair care. Whenever a person faces a problem relating to hair care, he or she first visits the beautician or the personal doctor concerned who will prescribe medicine. The prescription could be in the form of cosmetics or hair care products such as shampoos, conditioners, nourishment and growth aiding agents. However, consumers are not aware of the product that has to be used to produce the desired effect. What matters most to the consumers at this point is to ascertain whether the product works in favor of them.

The major hurdle in ascertaining whether the product is favors the hair is that the components of the product are not standardized. Unlike medications, the cosmetic products that are applied on the skin or to the hair need not necessarily produce the same effect to all people. Each person’s physical composition varies. Therefore, the reaction of the hair care ready products may be different from person to person. The products cannot be personalized at any level to the customer. Here, there are many limitations. The customer will be in a dilemma whether to opt for ready hair care products or to go in for natural ingredients or agents.

Optimal hair care problem is felt far greater among the women folk who maintain lengthy hair. Selecting the right product that go towards the maintenance of hair could become a problem. Therefore, it is recommended that individuals try and identify the best possible product over a period of time. For more info, please visit http://www.promotehairgrowth.net

Hair Care Will Respond to Products Containing Oils, Herbs

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

It has been proven time and again that nature is the best healer for all illnesses. The same applies to the hair of the human body. Any amount of external intervention in the form of shampoo and cosmetic products will not promote the hair growth or regeneration from a long term perspective. All the chemical components will only aid the hair growth in the short term. In the process, they could produce a number of side effects on the human body that cannot be ridden off quickly.

The only option before the persons willing to promote natural hair growth is to opt for natural products. They could be oils or organic products that do not contain any chemicals or compounds. It has been found that the shampoo and cosmetics products might actually damage the hair in the long run. For instance, long term use of shampoo can result in premature graying of the hair and even hair loss and baldness.

Shampoo and cosmetic products should not be applied to the hair everyday. It will affect the quality of the hair apart from causing hair splitting. A number of companies are now engaged in the production and marketing of natural hair care products. These hair care products are made using natural components without the addition of any synthetics or chemicals.

Some herbs and plants, including aloe vera are found to have properties that promote the natural growth of hair. The hair has to be nurtured with oil to promote rapid and healthy growth. The oils such as castor oil and coconut oil help the growth of the hair apart from maintenance. For instance, hair to which coconut oil is applied, is found to be healthier than the hair to which shampoo has been applied. Therefore, it is suggested that the dependence on chemical hair care products is reduced as much as possible.

Though the natural hair care products are priced higher when compared to other products, it is worth applying them to the hair instead of risking hair loss. A number of herbal products are also available in the market. However, check for the authenticity of the herbal products that claim to assist hair growth. Most of the times, the herbal products contain traces of chemicals that might be harmful to hair growth. Also, avoid steroids that promote hair growth.

In the long term, exposure to steroids is highly dangerous to the human body. Therefore, it is better to stick to natural products. These herbal hair care products have flooded the markets in the recent past. Exercise caution while buying the herbal hair care products. There could be instances of the herbal hair care products eventually not meeting the assurances. Therefore, check for the authenticity of the products.

It is always better to use natural hair care products to nurture the natural growth of hair. The use of synthetic products may be helpful in the short term, but it has plenty of long term disadvantages. Therefore, use the natural hair care products as much as possible to avoid dependence on cosmetics containing chemicals. For more info, please visit http://www.promotehairgrowth.net
